See what our guests are saying about their stay with us...

We stayed in the Yurt for two nights, we are usually hardened campers but my partner has had major surgery and not quite ready for tents yet, and had a fantastic time.
When we got there, 8:30 pm, the Yurt was quite cold (no surprise) but within 15 minutes I had the log burner blazing away and it was nice and cosy. Nearly everything we wanted was there. The yurt is semi-hidden in the woods, near enough to the facilities but hidden enoiugh to be private. The double bed was surprisingly comfortable, there were lamps, candles, a sofa, table and chairs, gas cooker, fridge, a container of fresh water, milk in the fridge ... I could get used to this ! Also a table and chairs outside and a firepit with grill too .... we cooked fish and sweet potatoes on the fire.
The rest of the site was quite beautiful too and we would certainly go back there with our tent.

We liked everything so much we decided to stay another week. The owners were very friendly and the whole site was well managed and very clean. The toilet block was very clean and heated 24 hours a day. We would certainly advise people to stay here.

This was such a beautiful site with good facilities. The setting in May was beautiful as we were surrounded by loads of bluebells. Lots of private pitches and secluded pitches for tents amongs the trees and bluebells. Quite magical. Having the 2 lakes too. We also loved being able to have a fire pit. The owners were really friendly and helpful. We will certainly come again and recommend it to others.

Great campsite and I only wish we could have stayed longer! Bramble is a lovely pitch in the trees and the fire pit was perfect as the nights are getting cooler. The whole site is well looked after and we felt it is great value for your money. The owners are friendly and very helpful, and Pickles the dog is priceless! Thank you for a lovely time 😁

Had a lovely weekend. Had a hiccup with the booking over the internet. No fault of either side. But the owners sorted everything out once we got there so friendly and helpful. Place was beautiful there were loads of things to buy in the little shop on site and rent fire pits and everything nice and clean. Location was great right in the middle, went to Torquay one day and Ilfracombe the next about 1hr either way the drive and scenery were lovely. Plenty around to do. Very pleased with our little family holiday. Thank you very much. Will see you soon. X

We stayed in the static caravans. A very friendly welcome, fresh flowers on the table, milk in fridge, tea and coffee and sugar in pots, beds made and loo roll even a spare. Washing up liquid, clothes and drying up clothe too. Everything thought of. Very clean. The site is clean and tidy with laundry room and shower room for campers, small shop with essentials.

We stayed in ‘The Beeches’, which was suitable for people with mobility problems.
Very quiet site and well spread among the trees. Not overlooked at all. Good parking facilities.
Very pleasent people and helpful with advice and local knowledge too.
Our caravan was a most a lodge with a raised wooden deck and outside table. Clean as a whistle and well equipped for 4. Shower worked well. Toilet accessible from bedroom as well as landing.
Very good location for getting to interesting places in Devon and Somerset.

Quiet, peaceful, small site in the middle of woodland. Birds and animals a delight to watch. Being December and trees being bare wasn’t the best time to visit, but think it would be spectacular from Spring onwards, so hoping to return. Facilities were spotless and were warm, day and night. Lovely hot showers. Owners were friendly and helpful, but didn’t impose rules, although there were a few but mainly about open fires. Lots of small towns nearby with small privately run shops, although large supermarkets also. Ideally a car is necessary. Totally relaxing stay. Thank you.

Couldn’t be more impressed! Lovely surroundings, friendly staff, clean facilities.

The Bell Tent gives a real secluded feel, yet is close to the amenities (showers, toilets and recycling). You can also park your car close so no lugging supplies and luggage miles. Very well thought out. Perfect if you want to escape reality and enjoy nature without being Ray Mears.

Will definitely be returning.

Kingsmead has a really relaxed atmosphere. Pick your own pitch. Help on hand from the owners (our EHU wasn’t long enough and our levellers didn’t quite level for us). Fire pits allowed (for hire or bring your own). Very peaceful site and immaculate facilities, including use of a fridge/freezer. I loved the lack of signal and how unregimented it was on site.

The only thing I didn’t like was the pub that was round the corner was closed but the campsite was so nice it wasn’t a problem. I initially thought more showers and toilets might be required BUT I NEVER had to wait in the 3 nights we were there over Easter
— Karen H, April 2017
What a beautiful escape from London! We had a wonderful stay at Kingsmead Centre Camping and would definitely recommend to others. We hope to stay here again as there’s so much to see in the surrounding wilderness. We had one of the forest pitches which was surrounded with wild flower and near the lake.
The staff were friendly and helpful

Booked as a last minute thing we were lucky enough to get two nights from a cancellation. Stayed in the bell tent which is basically a yurt settled in a beautiful woodland. With real attention to detail there is a beautiful double bed, wood burning stove and many tastefully coordinated furnishings. With two lakes and beautiful surroundings I doubt you would find anywhere much more magical and relaxing to come to. There is a fire pit outside and logs provided. The owners are lovely and made our short stay very special. Thank you.
— Mrs B, August 2016
We enjoyed our stay…perfect location…clean NEW toilet/shower/washing up block.Lots of nice touches…quiet…great pub within walking distance…will go back again without a doubt!! ps Fergus really enjoyed his walks in the woods and around the ponds.
— George Fowler, June 2015
A mini break with my five year old and my dog. Wonderful surroundings and very well kept site, can’t fault any of it. We stayed in the Yurt for 3 nights and my daughter thought it was magical! And the bed was far comfier than the hotel we stayed in on the way home! Good location to be away from it with out being to far from places of interest and the local pub served good food and ale, look forward to returning.

Booked a yurt for 4 days here, it was truly amazing and out of this world! If you’ve never done it, don’t think about it just do it, it has everything you want , a cooker fridge, electric sockets it’s bigger than what you think. set in the Forrest of stunning trees, with a round see through glass on top ,stunning at night, the decor inside is lush , with a wood burner as well, we didn’t need to light it , but did anyway, and the fire pit outside is beautiful, the site is clean and tidy, toilets and shower spotless, and they are about 30 seconds from yurt, there is a shop in reception, that has loads of basic things, more than what you think, the owners are lovely and friendly, and make a fuss of pickles the dog, great place with two beautiful lakes , it’s a hidden Jem thank you loved it 100%
— Stephen P, August 2019
A beautiful site in a stunning location. We had a great couple of nights in a cozy bell tent. The hosts are lovely and having dogs and fires is a bonus. Would recommend this site highly.
— Ethan M, August 2019
Stayed in The Willows. Beautiful static caravan with Bath and Separate shower , pure bliss being able to have a hot bubble bath. Bed extremely comfortable. Huge outdoor sitting area, which would be fantastic in the summer months. Tv signal perfect. Wi-Fi very fast for location. Close to site shop. Very quiet and tranquil setting , perfect for the ultimate country escape. Owners very welcoming and helpful and grounds immaculate. Central heating kept us toasty and warm. Highly recommend and will be back again very soon.
— Robert P, May 2019
Beautiful woodland campsite with excellent facilities and pitches. We loved our private pitch nestled in the forest. It was peaceful and beautiful. The owners were also very accommodating of our late arrival. Our only wish is that we had booked more nights there!
— Mrs R, August 2019
Absolutely fantastic campsite. We chose one of the woodland pitches, which are situated at the far end of the site so it was nice and quiet also overlooking the lake so fantastic view.

Facilities are great with massive, clean shower areas offering plenty of space to get dressed after the shower too. Indoor washing up area was a bonus too.
— Nick B, July 2019

— Mathew W, August 2018
Beautiful surroundings, very quiet and great walks for the doggies! Lovely pub down the road called the Half Moon, with a great atmosphere and very good food. Site was very clean and my partner really enjoyed relaxing and doing a bit of fishing. Very happy we picked Kingsmead Centre for a weekend break.
— Claire L, June 2018
Dear Jodie & Tristan, just to say what a lovely time we had staying at your beautiful site, it really is lovely, so natural, we had a walk through the woods and found the lakes, the facilities were spot on too, Lovely hot clean spacious showers, the local pub was just idyllic as well. It really was the perfect place for us to meet. We shall be back
— Lisa T, June 2017
We loved our stay at Kingsmead. Owners are friendly and welcoming as we’re the dogs :) Spotlessly clean facilities, the whole site is very well maintained. The fridge/freezer and local info was great. Lots of little touches made it perfect, stickers to mark food, ash bin with a brush, communal fire and bbq area and essentials in the shop area. Informal pitching so you can choose your own spot. The area around has great walking and it’s not far by car to beaches, shops etc Overall a very pleasant stay. Bring a long electric hook up as the points are spaced out.
— Karina T, April 2017
We loved the lakes, wooded area and the fact that fire pits were allowed. The showers were also hot and powerful and always clean. Lovely pub that we walked to - it was further than we expected but worth it!
— Carolyn C, June 2017
Had such a wonderful time camping at Kingsmead Centre this week.
The clean modern facilities were well maintained.
Staying here was such a unique experience and it was absolutely perfect.
Beautiful views in every direction.
Have re-booked another visit already!!
— Chris H, May 2017
Amazing fantastic beautiful, whether camping or staying in one of the cosy spotless statics
We cannot recommend highly enough, owners are lovely, loos & showers 5* We cannot wait to return.
Stunning setting magical place.❤️
— Karen E, August 2016
We have just come back from a week of camping. Brilliant site clean toilets and shower block. Very child friendly. As a person who was so anti camping this is my second time back and looking forward to booking my 3rd. The owners are lovely, will do anything they can to help you .We had a movie night with a pizza van which the kids loved.
Cannot fault this place! A must for any one who feels unsure if camping is for them.
— Zoe B, August 2016
Great place for an escape. Took two of my grandchildren for a camping break - they fished, made a den in the surrounding woodland and had Smores and didn’t once complain they were missing ‘technology’. I Intend to go back with wife and luxuriate in the Yurt :))
— Peter Woods, June 2016
The site is set in beautiful grounds with plenty of space to pitch our tent and not feel on top of other visitors. The quiet and peaceful setting was perfect for a relaxing weekend. We were able to hire a fire pit which was just what we needed. The site was quiet and well kept. The facilities were always clean and well stocked. Free wifi was useful and there really was nothing to complain about. I would highly recommend Kingsmead Centre for a relaxing break both for families or couples.
— Chloe M, July 2016
Just home from our second visit this year, what can we say? Stunning area, spotless loos & showers ( even tho site was full !) owners cannot do enough for you. Peaceful, relaxing, beautiful & plenty of unpolluted clear night sky for star gazing, amazing woodland walks right on site.
This is a true gem of a site & we will be returning and telling all our friends too. Love Kingsmead!
— Karen M, August 2016
Great site great people beautiful surroundings going there with friends this weekend see you soon guys.
— Mike Joyce, August 2015
We love this place clean tidy quiet and nice people thank you so much.
— Clive Draper, June 2015
Stayed here for 8 days with family, The camp site is small but well organised, the shower, toilet and washing up room are the best we have at a camp site, very clean and plenty of space. My husband and kids love the fishing, they caught loads... Highly recommend this campsite, will be going back.
— Abby W, August 2015

Lovely campsite, off the beaten track but not too far from civilisation. Peaceful with no music allowed. Small and charming with good facilities. Lovely walks nearby and large ponds full of life. They allow firepits which is great as it was down to 1C when we stayed.
— Mike C, June 2019
A beautiful and chilled out site that encourages camp fires with fire pits provided - We stayed in one of the Woodland clearings which created a natural vibe and a personal space. We felt as if we were deep in the woods yet it was only a short stroll to the clean shower and toilet facilities.
— Keith P, July 2019
Lovely campsite off the beaten track, welcoming and friendly owners, and in a gorgeous setting amongst the trees. The toilets and showers were nice and clean and the owners let us keep our caravan there whilst we walked off for a Sunday pub lunch. Being able to have a fire pit made all the difference.
— Mel R, August 2019
Lovely family run camp site that was relaxing with nice woodland walks to fishing area’s. The static caravan that we stayed in had everything we needed to cook dinners and it had a normal size fridge. The beds were really comfy. We had our own toilet and shower but if you want to use the shower block then it is really modern and clean. There is even a washing machine and tumble dryer coin operated .Great location in between Devon and Somerset so one day you can be visiting Minehead and the next travel the other direction to Sidmouth. You do need a car but if you check distances on google you have got so many choices only doing 40 or so minute drives.
— Rachel C, August 2018
A very nice spacious site, well maintain without being over manicured. The best showers we have ever had in a camp site. Overall a very pleasant 5 days
— Liz T, June 2017
We loved the size of the campsite. The owners were wonderful and so friendly. This was a trial run for our first time with our trailer tent and we couldn’t have asked for a better site to start with. The facilities were really clean the whole time - it was genuinely almost like being at home they were so well maintained. Many drinking water points so we didn’t have to walk miles for our water. It was nice and quiet most of the time too. They said on the booking information that the grass pitches weren’t level, and we were a little worried about levelling up but it was only slightly on an incline and not a problem at all!
— Emily K, Sept 2018
The yurt was wonderful, so magical, and we all loved it! The bed and the sofa bed were really comfy. The yurt has everything you need and logs are supplied for the log burner during your stay. The toilet block is pretty close by and is lovely and clean. There is also a footpath that runs through the site so you can go for a lovely walk from right on the doorstep. Our boys loved exploring the woodland location. We would definitely come back again.
— Lauren T, April 2017
Just a note to say thank you for our stay in the Lily Pad Bell Tent. It was our first time Glamping it and everything was perfect. Great accommodation in the Bell Tent. Very clean and very quiet. The only noise was the trees, the birds and the sound of others snapping twigs to add to their open fire! Great location, small, well organise site, and worth drive to get here.
— Lindsey J, July 2016
We have just returned from a 4 night stay in one of the caravans. We were lucky enough to win a 2 night stay and decided to extend it. Having camped here 2 years ago we were happy to return especially our daughter who was pleased to see pickles the dog. Caravan was clean and tidy on arrival and has everything you, nice touch of having a few essentials provided. Added bonus of staying when the pizza night was on, very yummy pizza. Would definitely recommend Kingsmead and am sure we will be back.
— Claire C, August 2016
Dear Tristan and Jodie, just a brief note to say how much my son and I have enjoyed staying at your wonderful camping site. You have a truly unique place and I am sure we will be back soon.
— Mr Wrobel, June 2016
This site is wonderful. The facilities are lovely and clean and never so busy we had to queue. The pitches are a good size and level. Cannot wait to stay again!!! Thankyou for a fantastic holiday!!
— Rachel Button, August 2015

We just wanted to say a huge thank you for a wonderful stay over the bank holiday weekend. We were so grateful to have the woodland pitch for our bell tent - the pitch suited us so well, it was such a perfect and relaxing spot. We will definitely be booking again in the future.
